Fabrizio Romano: Cesare Casadei to join Chelsea from Inter Milan
According to a tweet from Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan starlet Cesare Casadei is set to complete his move to Chelsea after a deal was agreed between the clubs. A fee of €15m plus €5m in add-ons is agreed between both the clubs with no buy-back clause inserted.
The duration of the contract will be six years for the 19-year-old. Chelsea are prepared to spend time and money on him to develop and become one of the first-team superstars in years and seasons to come.
The willingness to go after a highly-rated young talent shows the club’s vision to spend on youth and build long-term strategies with regard to the playing personnel. French side Nice were also in the race for the player, but the Blues have now got their man.
Casadei is a central midfielder by trade. The 19-year-old can operate in other positions such as in a two-man midfield, or as a defensive midfielder or as an attacking midfielder. He made 40 appearances in all competitions last season for Inter’s youth sides, scoring 17 goals and providing five assists.
If all goes well regarding the final details of this deal, Casadei will follow in the footsteps of Carney Chukwuemeka and Omari Hutchinson. The Blues have always been a club that spends money on youngsters and produces top-level talents from their youth teams or the academy.
Casadei already has great experience in the youth-level game, including the UEFA Youth League. He possesses the quality to come and be one of the stars in the Chelsea’s youth team.
