Tuchel asks two highly-rated Chelsea starlets to hold off deciding on their futures

Transfer News: Thomas Tuchel has asked Armando Broja and Levi Colwill to hold off on their future

According to Evening Standard, Thomas Tuchel has asked Chelsea youth players Armando Broja and Levi Colwill to hold off on deciding their future amid interest from Premier League clubs. Broja was sent back from the senior team camp in the United States earlier this week, while Colwill is still with the team.

Broja broke into the scene last season when he scored 9 goals in 38 appearances on loan at Southampton. The 20-year-old Albanian showed his potential to everyone and emerged as one of the best young strikers in the league.

Colwill, who spent last season on loan at Huddersfield, was exceptionally good for them at the back. The 19-year-old centre-back helped his team reach the play-off final where they lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest.

The two players arrived back at Chelsea with high expectations. They were on route to impress coach Thomas Tuchel and have a shot at making it to the team for next season. The duo also travelled to the States for the team’s pre-season tour.

However, for one the trip was cut short. Broja was sent back to London due to an injury while Colwill remained and featured in the last game against Charlotte. A lot of speculations sparked following this move, with Broja being said to be close to moving to West Ham United for £30 million.

Colwill has his share of clubs interested in him too. The likes of Leicester City, Crystal Palace, and Southampton are said to be admirers of the centre-back and could offer him a chance in their team.

It is strange to see a centre-back and a striker being linked with a move away from Chelsea, when these are the two departments that need fixing as soon as possible in terms of depth.

Colwill and Broja haven’t been tried with the first team in competitive games on a regular basis. This could be a situation like Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori all over again, with Chelsea letting two brilliant academy graduates leave for Italy last summer.

Should Tuchel fail to convince them, Chelsea fans will hope that these players go out on loan and not on permanent transfers. They both are young and have huge potential in them to start games for Chelsea someday. Hopefully, Tuchel will be able to convince the duo to stay.
