Transfer News: Chelsea target Raphinha pushing for Barcelona move
According to the popular Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, talented Leeds United winger Raphinha is pushing for a transfer to Barcelona this summer amidst interest from Chelsea.
Chelsea’s interest in Raphinha has been in the news for quite some time now with the Blues already agreeing to a deal with the Yorkshire club for the talented Brazilian. However, the 25-year-old seems to want to choose Barcelona over the London-based club.
A talented player, Raphinha was a shining light in a struggling Leeds United team last season. His performances have been exceptional for the Yorkshire club ever since he joined the Premier League from Stade Rennais in 2020.
One of the most talented wingers in the Premier League at the moment, the Brazilian is excellent at scoring goals and creating assists. Anyone who has seen Raphinha play will know how hardworking he is and his abilities in a dead ball situation are exceptional.
The 25-year-old had yet another great season in a struggling Leeds side who were battling relegation this season. Raphinha has played 36 games for the Yorkshire club scoring 11 goals and providing three assists across all competitions this season.
It is easy to see why Thomas Tuchel will be keen on a move for the Brazilian. The 25-year-old would have been the perfect fit for the German tactician and his system. His abilities will add a lot of quality to the Blues and if he comes here, he would be as perfect as a signing could get.
Having impressed with his league performances, Raphinha now finds himself in the picture for the national team under Tite. The 25-year-old star man has played nine games for the Selecao, scoring three goals during this period. With a World cup just around the corner, his next move will have to be a smart one.
Despite Chelsea’s interest in Raphinha, it is the player’s wishes which usually work out eventually and since Raphinha is so keen on moving to Spain and playing for Barcelona under Xavi Hernandez, it seems impossible for the Blues to convince the Brazilian to come to Stamford Bridge.

If we sign Raphinha, he would be an exceptional signing. However, it seems increasingly unlikely by the day and Chelsea will have to accept that and focus their efforts elsewhere.
