Report: Chelsea handed boost in pursuit of La Liga defensive ace

Transfer News: Chelsea handed a boost in their pursuit of Jules Kounde

According to the Mirror, Chelsea are growing increasingly confident of beating Barcelona to the signing of Jules Kounde from Sevilla this summer.

Kounde is one of the best defenders in La Liga in recent years, and he has all the abilities required to become one of the best centre-backs for football in the next few years. He will be the ideal centre-back for a club of Chelsea’s magnitude and could be here for many years to come.

Chelsea have been interested in the French defender for quite some time now with the Blues falling short in their efforts last summer. The La Liga club refused to sell the player but are open to a deal this time around.

Chelsea are still negotiating for Sevilla star Jules Kounde.

Sevilla have already sold Diego Carlos this summer and now, with them willing to sell their other centre-back as well, clubs like Barcelona and Chelsea are circling the Frenchman. Barcelona are very interested in signing the talented 23-year-old but the Blues are said to be increasingly confident.

In 44 games for the La Liga club this season, Kounde has scored three goals and provided three assists across all competitions. He is a mainstay on Lopetuigi’s side and already shows maturity beyond his age to lead the backline and be a commanding presence.

Chelsea need to solve a defensive crisis this summer. Andreas Christensen left for Barcelona and Antonio Rudiger is now at Real Madrid. Barcelona are also looking to poach Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso this summer from the Blues.

We have already signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli. The 31-year-old has been one of the centre-backs in the world in recent years and he has the experience required to lead the Chelsea back-line for many years to come and would be a great addition.

Adding a young Jules Kounde along with him is the dream. He can learn from his more experienced Senegalese partner and take over from him when Koulibaly’s time comes to an end.

Signing Kounde would be a statement of intent from Chelsea. Let’s hope we end up beating Barcelona to his signing and bring the Frenchman to Stamford Bridge.

Writing about football has been a refreshing cocktail of joy, and probably the most intoxicating yet, much like experiencing the 6-1 comeback live. Through my work, I hope to connect with readers who share a similar excitement and love for the game and offer a fresh perspective.
