Transfer News: Barcelona submit improved bid for Chelsea target Raphinha
According to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have tabled an improved bid for Raphinha to Leeds United but they are still not matching the £60m bid that Chelsea made for the talented Brazilian winger.
That Chelsea have an agreement with Leeds United for Raphinha for quite some time now is no secret but it is the player’s desire to wait for Barcelona that is delaying the deal from happening. The Brazilian is supposedly keen on a move to the Spanish giants.
Raphinha has been one of the most sought-after wingers in the Premier League this summer. Ever since his move from Stade Rennais, the 25-year-old winger has only grown from strength to strength.
Making the switch from Ligue 1 to the Premier League in 2020, Raphinha took to English football like a fish to water, settling in almost immediately and putting in impressive performances for the Yorkshire club in their first season back in the English top flight.
Training under a world-class manager like Marcelo Bielsa helped him, of course. The Brazilian is one of the most all-round wingers going around in the world of football right now and the Argentinian manager deserves some credit for that.
Anyone who has followed Raphinha in the past couple of years will know that he can shoot and create chances for his teammates with distinction. He is very good in dead-ball situations and a hard-working winger down the flanks.
Despite playing for a struggling Leeds side battling relegation this season, Raphinha has been the lone shining light and deserves major credit for keeping the Whites afloat. In 36 games across all competitions, the Brazilian scored 11 goals and provided three assists.
Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea are keen on signing Raphinha and he would undoubtedly be a great signing for the Blues. He could be a solution to their goal-scoring woes and he could settle in right away, having played a couple of seasons in the PL already.

The stumbling block however is the fact that Raphinha only wants to join Barcelona, at least as of now. If Chelsea and Tuchel manage to change the Brazilian’s mind, he would be the perfect signing for us.
