Thomas Tuchel praises talented Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher
Speaking in an interview after Chelsea’s pre-season clash against Nevada as quoted by Football. London, Thomas Tuchel was full of praise for talented English youngster Conor Gallagher after his performance in the game.
The Blues emerged victorious 2-1 against Nevada thanks to goals from Timo Werner and Mason Mount. One player who seems to have caught the manager’s eye the most with his performances in the game was none other than Conor Gallagher.
The talented English midfielder is back in the Blues fold after spending last season out on loan at Crystal Palace. Gallagher was the stand-out player for the Eagles last season and impressed one and all with his performances in the Premier League last season.
In fact, he was so impressive that he managed to convince Gareth Southgate that he deserved a spot in the national set-up and now finds himself firmly in the plans of the English manager for a spot in the Fifa World cup 2022 in Qatar later this year.
Gallagher could have a huge role in the Chelsea first team under Thomas Tuchel this season. The German manager rates him very highly and he could just be the fresh legs that the Blues need to revitalise their midfield from last season.
Speaking about his performances against Nevada in the pre-season clash, Thomas Tuchel has nothing but praises for the youngster
“It was a very good start and a good match for him. He can be a big asset for us. Conor trains at a really high level. You can clearly see it was the right decision to let him go on loan. He made a huge step in his development at Palace and became an England player”
Now that he has caught the eye of the manager in his first opportunity, it is up to Gallagher to continue to grow from here and become a mainstay in the Blues’ midfield for next season and beyond. There is no doubt that he has the talent to do that.
N’golo Kante and Jorginho are getting older and although they might have a couple of good seasons in them, it is time to look toward the future. We have Mateo Kovacic and adding Gallagher and Billy Gilmour to the mix could have our midfield sorted for years to come.

One thing that we must ensure with Gallagher is to not stunt his development. After all, he finds himself within touching distance of playing the World cup in November and we must not spoil that chance for him by not giving him enough opportunities.
Gallagher is a huge asset for us to have, and he could be a huge player for us in the future. He must be handled carefully so that he can realise his true potential with us.
