The Boehly-Clearlake administration have promised Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel six new signings to keep up with rivals
According to the Evening Standard, new Chelsea owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have promised coach Thomas Tuchel six new signings to help bridge the gap to Manchester City and Liverpool for next season. This has come amid Chelsea’s failure to sign any new player yet this summer.
Tuchel has seen senior players like Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave the club. There are many other players tipped to leave the Blues this summer as Tuchel overhauls his squad for next season.
Chelsea were expected to challenge for the title last season but had a disappointing season as they finished third on the table, losing the FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals both to Liverpool on penalties and crashing out of the quarter-finals of the Champions League, losing to Real Madrid 5-4 on aggregate.
Who all could join?
The Blues have been linked with a host of players in the past month. Although, they are yet to sign one. Almost all departments need new recruits or could see Under-23 players secure promotion to the senior squad.
Cristiano Ronaldo has been offered to Chelsea by his agent as Boehly met with his agent a few days ago. He could help solve the lack of goal threat problem at Chelsea and also get his wish to continue playing in the Champions League and win some trophies. Another forward who has been linked with Chelsea is Neymar. The Brazilian is said to be unhappy at his current club and has been offered to Chelsea.
There is also growing confidence in the Chelsea side that they will land Raheem Sterling from Manchester City. They are hoping to seal his £45 million move before the pre-season starts. The Blues have also agreed to a fee of £55 million with Leeds United for Raphinha, though they are yet to agree to personal terms with the player.
Apart from this, the Blues are also said to be in the race for Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt and for Nathan Ake from Manchester City, though they are facing severe competition from Bayern Munich to secure the signature of the former.

However, it remains to be seen what happens. Being linked and actually signing players are two distant concepts. Rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have already made signings and are preparing for their pre-season, while Chelsea are a few steps behind. The faster they can sign players, the more time they will have to adapt to their new surroundings.
