Brazilian superstar gives thoughts on his future amidst Chelsea transfer links

Neymar says he wants to stay at PSG amidst talks linking the Brazilian to Chelsea

Neymar has come out and put an end to any speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea this summer by claiming he wants to stay at Paris-Saint Germain (PSG). The 30-year-old has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge during the transfer window.

There has been uncertainty about the Brazilian’s future in Paris following the overhaul by the club owner to change the culture at PSG. The new sporting director Luis Campos has been looking at solutions to offload Neymar this summer.

But the 30-year-old is calm about his future. As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano (h/t football.london), Neymar is looking forward to the next season with the Parisians and is adamant about wanting to be a part of the team.

“I want to stay at Paris Saint-Germain. No one from the club told me anything about the plans for my future, as things stand.

“I don’t know what kind of plans they have for me – I want to stay.”

The Brazilian left Barcelona in one of the craziest transfer sagas that saw PSG pay a world record fee for the mercurial forward. The 30-year-old had already proven his skill and ability on the world stage to quote such a fee.

But his time in the Parc de Princes has been marred by injuries. While Neymar has still been one of the best players in the world, fans who’ve seen him play regularly know that there’s more to the Brazilian.

Chelsea’s current attacking options

Chelsea currently have a bunch of attacking options that Thomas Tuchel can choose. We’ve signed Raheem Sterling this summer. The England international adds pace and directness to the team.

We have the Champions League hero Kai Havertz to rely on. The German has been one of our best forwards over the last two seasons. But fans feel there’s still much more to come from the 23-year-old.

Havertz’s compatriot, Timo Werner, on the other hand, hasn’t had the best of times in London. The Blues signed the German after his goal-scoring exploits in the Bundesliga, but he has failed to replicate that in the Premier League.

More Chelsea News

We’ve let go of certain other forwards and some who are still with us have uncertainty around their futures. Tuchel knows exactly what Neymar’s all about, having managed him previously. So, fans will hope we get to see the Brazilian play for the Blues at some point in time.

But one must be wary of his shaky injury record during his time in France and the fact that he is now in his 30s. Neymar Jr is, after all, not a light name to have on your wage books.
