Frenkie de Jong open to moving to Chelsea over Manchester United this summer
Frenkie de Jong has not closed the doors on a potential switch to Chelsea this summer transfer window, according to Sport (h/t Metro). But it’s also suggested that the Dutch national’s first preference is to stay at Barcelona.
Manchester United are said to have an agreement in place for De Jong with the Catalans, but the 25-year-old is not keen on a switch to Old Trafford.
And the Dutch national would rather move to the Blues than the Red Devils this summer. Champions League football is a significant consideration along with the prospect of having to live in Manchester.
De Jong appears to recognise the sporting project being put together at Chelsea. A switch to United is not favourable. This may give the Blues the upper hand if negotiations occur. But as of now, the Stamford Bridge side haven’t submitted an official offer.
Thomas Tuchel has a lot of options in the middle to choose from as of now for next season. Ngolo Kante and Mateo Kovacic were the first names on the team sheet last season. But both were out for periods with injuries.
Jorginho is someone a lot of people have mixed feelings about. There’s no doubt about his qualities, but some fans feel the Italian is too slow for the Premier League.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek had his moments last season. The 26-year-old got his chances in the previous campaign. But the England international has been inconsistent.
Conor Gallagher is an exciting prospect that fans are looking forward to seeing. After an impressive spell with Crustal Palace, he now comes to the Bridge to showcase his talent.
