Fabrizio Romano: West Ham United have made a bid for Chelsea striker Armando Broja
According to the Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, West Ham United have made a bid for Chelsea striker Armando Broja. The Hammers are said to have bid €35 million for the Blues sensation.
The 20-year-old impressed during his loan time at Southampton last season. West Ham are looking to add more depth to their attack this summer, and have decided to test Chelsea’s resolve regarding their young striker. The Albanian scored nine goals in all competitions last season for the Saints, putting in several excellent performances over the course of the campaign.
However, Thomas Tuchel has brushed aside any rumours of Broja leaving by stating that he is a Chelsea player and they have no interest in selling him. Apart from West Ham, Everton, Newcastle United and Napoli are all interested in the Blues forward.
A Chelsea youth academy product, Broja has spent the past two seasons on loan at Vitesse Arnhem and Southampton respectively. The Albanian international is currently with the squad in the States for pre-season. Tuchel wants to first assess the player before deciding his future.
Timo Werner is the only senior striker currently on the Blues roster that enjoys Tuchel’s faith, albeit not unequivocally. Given his inconsistency in front of goal, Broja has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to impress Tuchel and cement a place for himself for next season. Tuchel could do with an out-and-out striker in the team, rather than rotating different attackers in the number nine position like last season.
However, the player will be open to a move if he is not going to get regular playing time next season. The Albanian is just 20 years old and still has a lot to learn. Selling him for a quick profit today could come back to bite Chelsea tomorrow. Tuchel would be wise to assess the player first and then decide on his future.
A top talent, Broja emerged as one of the best young strikers in the Premier League last season. If given proper guidance and opportunity, he could become the person to lead the Blues’ attack for many years to come. He could become the next big thing to come out of Cobham.

Tuchel could play Broja against Club America tomorrow for their first game of the pre-season. It will be interesting to see where he plays next season, but he could be one to watch out for.
