Transfer News: Chelsea plot move for 17-year-old La Liga midfielder

Chelsea plot move for talented Barcelona midfielder Pablo Gavi

According to Football.London, Chelsea are plotting a move for talented 17-year-old Spanish midfielder Pablo Gavi from Barcelona as an alternative to Dutch superstar Frenkie de Jong.

It looks like the loggerheads between Chelsea and Barcelona this transfer window is not over yet. It might be the Blues’ time to get one back on the Spanish giants by signing either one of their two superstar midfielders.

Frenkie de Jong needs no introduction. The talented Dutchman, as most people who watch football know, is a freakish talent who can play exceptionally well and dominate a midfield with absolute ease on his day.

Transfer News: Gavi ready to pen new Barcelona contract amidst Chelsea interest.

People who don’t follow Spanish football regularly might not have seen what Pablo Gavi is capable of. Just 17 years of age, the Spanish wonderkid is simply sensational and does things on the pitch that makes you gasp out of sheer disbelief.

Gavi broke into the Barcelona first team at the beginning of last season when he was just 16 years old. An injury to Pedri meant that he was quickly thrust into a starting role in the team and ever since he has not looked back.

Such have been performances over a short duration time that it did not take Luis Enrique long to decide that he wanted the Spanish sensation in the national team set up and now he finds himself a mainstay there as well.

Gavi is a star already

It’s not normal to see a 17-year-old of this quality and it is not often that a player comes around like this. Due to his age, Gavi has an exceptionally high ceiling and Barcelona by no means will want to part ways with him any time soon.

Chelsea might be interested in Frenkie de Jong and Gavi but it is very unlikely that they are able to land the latter. The former though seems to be a more realistic target but the Blues will have to spend the big bucks for him.

If the Gavi pursuit is indeed true, it is an interesting story to keep an eye out for. However, it looks far-fetched at least as things stand as of now.
