Mason Mount is hopeful that Chelsea contract talks will start soon
Mason Mount has indicated that he wants to commit his future at Chelsea and hopes that new contract talks will soon take place between him and the club. This is according to journalist Fabrizio Romano (h/t The Athletic).
A Chelsea youth product, Mount has two years left in his current contract. But he is also one of the lowest-paid players in the club, although that is something the new owners want to change. However, the Cobham product remains very happy in West London.
“I’ve got two years left on my contract and I’m very, very happy here. Those talks will hopefully be starting soon.”

Voted by the club’s fans as Chelsea’s Player of the Year for the past two seasons, he is one of the best young talents in the modern game. The 23-year-old is very unlikely to leave this summer, though Chelsea will hope to tie him down for a long time and not risk losing him for free as they did with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.
The England international was very impressive last season as he scored 13 goals and assisted another 16 in 53 appearances for the Blues in all competitions. His performance helped his team reach the FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals, losing both on penalties to Liverpool.
A standout from his all performances was the second leg against Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. He was phenomenal on the pitch as he scored one and assisted another, as Chelsea won the match 3-2, but lost the tie in extra-time to an aggregate score of 5-4.
Chelsea know they have a future star in their ranks and they should be willing to do anything to keep him at Stamford Bridge. The Blues will be aware that if a new contract is not signed, they might lose out one of their star boys to a rival club.
Mount is also happy with the new owners and was full of praise for them. He is excited to see what happens in the future and hopes to keep Chelsea at the top where they currently are.
“After the last game of the season we had a little get-together at the hotel and he (Boehly) was there with the rest of the consortium. It was good to meet them in person and speak to them all. It’s so exciting what the future holds. We’re a team that over the last ten years has been up there and pushing and that is where we want to stay.”
