Report: London rivals enter the race to sign nine-goal Chelsea loanee

Transfer News: West Ham enter the race to sign Chelsea loanee Armando Broja

According to Football Insider (h/t Football.London), West Ham United have expressed interest in Chelsea loanee Armando Broja as they search for a centre-forward.

During the 2021/22 season, Broja was a frequent starter on loan at Southampton. As his temporary spell is closing to an end he will now return to Chelsea. West Ham, on the other hand, are hoping for a deal to get him to the London Stadium.

When the transfer market opens, the Hammers will be anxious to sign a new striker. As a consequence, the club has identified a number of possible targets for the summer transfer window.

Chelsea youngster, Armando Broja, in action.

Broja wowed the crowd with his agility and ability to connect with his colleagues at St Mary’s Park. If he had been more clinical, he could have ended the season with even more goals. However, the teenager is still honing his craft and if he continues to grow as projected, the Albanian may become an important player for Chelsea.

Moving forward, we can’t afford to make any more mistakes with our young talents and academy graduates. Tammy Abraham, Tino Livramento, Tariq Lamptey, Marc Guehi, and Fikayo Tomori, for example, would have made for good squad players if not first-team stars next season.

We’d be wise not to add Broja to that list as well, as that would be a devastating blow. Broja has received high praise for his performances this season, scoring nine goals and adding an assist in 38 games across all competitions.

He appears to be ready to take over for Thomas Tuchel, especially now that our offence might require some help this summer.

Chelsea have a great striker in Armando Broja.

Romelu Lukaku continues to struggle with his form, while Kai Havertz’s performance has dipped in recent weeks. Timo Werner has made a comeback recently, but it’s still too early to determine if he’ll be trustworthy in the future.

If that’s the case, Broja’s performances for the Saints suggest he’ll be a valuable asset. He is currently under contract until 2026, so there is no need to be concerned about outside interests for the time being.

Letting him go to a London rival in West Ham would mean little relocation for Broja when it comes to proximity, but it wouldn’t make sense for us to offload one of our more talented academy graduates right now. A loan spell would still make sense, but any move that sees Broja leave permanently this summer would certainly baffle a lot of Chelsea fans.
