Transfer News: PSG have joined the race for Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar
According to Get Italian Football News via Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t Football.London), PSG are set to enter the race for talented Slovakian centre-back Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan with Chelsea also said to be keen on the defender.
Skriniar joined Inter Milan from Sampdoria in 2017 and has since then gone on to establish himself as one of the best defenders in the Italian top flight. The Slovakian defender has been one of Nerazzurri’s most important players over the past few years.
The 27-year-old has played 48 times for the Italian club this season scoring four goals across all competitions. Despite losing the title race to rivals AC Milan, Skriniar has been one of Simone Inzaghi’s most important players this season as well.
Chelsea have been interested in the defender for quite some time now but a move has not materialised. Now, PSG are also set to join the race for the Slovakian with Inter apparently asking for a huge fee to sell him this summer.
Bargain buy?
Anyone who has followed Milan Skriniar’s career will obviously know that the defender has a lot of talent and can be of great importance to any team.
With a contract with the Nerazzurri until 2023, Inter are not in a position where they can demand huge money for the talented Slovakian. He could be available on a cut-price deal this summer and that is probably why many clubs are interested in signing him.
Chelsea have a defensive crisis to solve this summer as they find themselves extremely short of options at centre-back. Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger are leaving the club this summer and the future of Cesar Azpilicueta is also far from certain.
The Blues will need reinforcements in the defence going into next season and it remains to be seen as to how they handle the situation. Milan Skriniar offers them a great value for money opportunity if he is available for a cut-price but primarily, he is a quality defender.
