Transfer News: Neymar responds to transfer speculations amid Chelsea interest
While speaking in an interview, as quoted by football.london, Brazilian superstar Neymar has revealed his future plans amid strong interest from Chelsea ahead of the summer transfer window.
Brazilian star Neymar just concluded an injury ridden season with PSG with 13 goals and eight assists in 28 appearances across all competitions. There has been much speculation on the 30-year-old striker’s future after Kylian Mbappe signed a lucrative new contract with the French outfit.
PSG have made Mbappe the centre of their sporting project and the future appears to be focused around the 23-years-old. However, it might harm Neymar’s role in the team.
Amid such a situation, Chelsea have shown an interest in signing the Brazilian forward. The Blues are starting a new era under the ownership of Todd Boehly and they might fancy getting one of the top players in the world to kickstart their campaign.
However, when asked about where he would be playing next season, Neymar clarified that he has no intentions to leave the French capital. It is fair to say that Chelsea have been handed a real blow in their efforts to land the Brazilian.
“It has to be with Paris. I have a contract with PSG, so there are no other possible choices. Yes, it will be with Paris Saint-Germain.”
Big blow for Chelsea?
Chelsea’s forwards haven’t been very successful of late and have struggled in front of the goal. Our big-money signings like Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have failed to maintain consistency, largely firing blanks while leading the line.
The situation makes it clear that Chelsea must bring in a quality striker if they are aiming to compete in the top tournaments. Neymar seems to be an incredible choice from that perspective as the Brazilian remains one of the most skilful forwards in the modern game.

However, considering his recent comments, Chelsea might not be able to convince him to make a move in the summer. He seems committed to the project at PSG and it is improbable that he would change his decision in the near future.
The West London team should shift their focus to other transfer targets. A crucial goalscorer is needed in the team, preferably a number ‘9’ who would guarantee a high number of goals and assists. Lukaku can take up that spot, but he has to rejuvenate his form before that.
