Transfer News: Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling offered to Chelsea
According to AS via Sport Witness (h/t football.London), Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has been offered to Chelsea this summer.
Sterling joined Manchester City from Liverpool in 2015 and has since then gone on to become one of the best wide men in the Premier League. An important cog of Pep Guardiola’s Man City for many years now, the Englishman has a lot of quality.
The 27-year-old has had yet another excellent season with Manchester City on their way to the Premier League title. The English winger has played 47 times for the club this season scoring 17 goals and providing nine assists across all competitions.
Manchester City are set to sign Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez in the summer and they might be looking to move an attacker on. Sterling has supposedly been offered to Chelsea this summer and the Blues have to make a decision soon.
Not what we need?
Whilst there is no denying that Raheem Sterling is a world-class player and he would add a lot to the Blues, we do not need the Englishman at the moment. He has certainly lost that aura of invincibility that he showcased earlier in his career.
Our attacking talents are well stocked with no requirements for a new player unless we move someone on. However, the same cannot be said about our defence where signing new players is an absolute requirement considering our current options.
City will not sell Raheem Sterling for cheap and we must not spend big bucks on buying a player who plays in a position where we already have plenty of options. Thus it is best that we do not pursue a deal for the talented Englishman.
