Speaking in an interview as quoted by Scott Trotter (via Telefoot) (h/t Football.London), AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni reveals that he has not made a decision about his next club yet amidst interest from Chelsea.
The French midfielder joined AS Monaco from Bordeaux back in 2020 and has since then gone on to establish himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the world. A highly rated prospect, Tchouameni has only grown from strength to strength every season and could be ready for his next big move now.
This season has been no different for the Frenchman putting in impressive performances for the Ligue 1 giants and also during his time with the French national team. The 22-year-old has played 50 games across all competitions this season scoring five goals and providing three assists across all competitions.
Although it has been circulating in recent weeks that the player has agreed on a move to Real Madrid, Tchouameni has now finally conceded that he has not yet made a decision about his next club leaving the door wide open for the Blues.
Anybody who has seen Tchouameni play knows the quality the kid possesses and he could truly develop into a world-class player in his career. Chelsea could do with a midfielder of his qualities as they look to build for the future.
Although predominantly a defensive midfielder, the Frenchman’s versatility means that he can play further forward in midfield and also do a good job in a box to box role. Extremely solid on the ball and off it, Tchouameni is all you can ask for from a midfielder.
Chelsea could do with some reinforcements in the midfield area. N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are not getting any younger and their age is starting to show. Mateo Kovacic for all his quality struggles to stay fit whilst Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley fail to convince regularly.
Pairing Tchouameni with probably two of the biggest midfield prospects in English football in Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour will mean that Chelsea’s midfield will be set for many many years to come and this could be the ultimate dream but it would be far from easy.
Despite the player’s admission of not having made a decision yet, it does look like the 22-year-old would prefer a move to Los Blancos. However, if Tchouameni wants to come here, we should sign him up despite the cost that it would take. The Frenchman will undoubtedly succeed.
