A View From The Bridge

Bayern Munich linked with a shock summer move for Chelsea star

Transfer News: Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku linked with a move to Bayern Munich

According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Football.London), Chelsea superstar Romelu Lukaku is linked with a shock move to European giants Bayern Munich in the summer.

The Belgian striker joined Chelsea from Inter Milan in the summer in what was a highly anticipated move. However, things have not panned out as expected with the talented striker failing to hit the ground running in his second stint at Stamford Bridge.

The 29-year-old has played 44 times for the Blues this season scoring 15 goals and providing two assists across all competitions. Whilst such numbers don’t seem too awful at first glance, Lukaku has failed to impress when it matters the most for Chelsea.

Do Romelu Lukaku have a future at Chelsea?

Romelu Lukaku is being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge and now it has emerged that Bayern Munich are interested in signing the Belgian striker.

The Lewandowski replacement?

It is no secret that Robert Lewandowski wants to leave Bayern Munich and Romelu Lukaku could be his replacement in Munich. It is fair to say that the Belgian has some big shoes to fill should the move go through.

The Belgian’s homecoming to Stamford Bridge has not panned out as expected with the talented striker not managing to set it alight in the Premier League. Injuries and Covid have not helped his cause, not allowing the player to get into a proper rhythm.

At his best, the 29-year-old can be a world class striker and bag a truckload of goals as we have seen during his time at Inter Milan. However, Lukaku has been a pale shadow of his former shelf at Chelsea even failing to put away the easiest of chances.

It may not be too late for the Belgian to resurrect his faltering career. If he chooses to stick around with the Blues and try to get back to his very best, Lukaku could become the player he promised to be when Chelsea signed him for the big bucks.

It remains to be seen as to what happens with Lukaku. Bayern Munich might be interested in the Belgian but it remains to be seen if a loan move actually goes through.
