Transfer News: Chelsea remain keen on Ousmane Dembele despite injury concerns
According to football.london, it is understood that Chelsea are still keen on bringing Ousmane Dembele to the club on a free transfer despite injury concerns and the potential signing of Raheem Sterling.
The Frenchman had indicated his will to stay at Barcelona to a fan in a video posted on social media, but it seems Chelsea still see him as a viable option this summer. The 25-year-old is still considered a target for the Blues as the Thomas Tuchel favourite’s contract with the Blaugrana expires on 30 June.
What does Dembele’s possible signing mean for other Chelsea players?
Chelsea’s attack hasn’t been potent enough of late as the Blues failed to match fans’ expectations and challenge for the title. Our season faltered at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, winning only four of their last 10 games in the Premier League. The disappointing loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League was also a hard pill to swallow for fans.
Some might say that our goal scorers didn’t step up to the mark. All of our forwards registered less than 30 goals in the 2021/22 season in all competitions. Our highest scorer was Romelu Lukaku, who is seemingly on his way back to Inter Milan. For a club like Chelsea, who are fighting for every title, creating and taking their chances is important.
The possible arrival of Dembele can help the team create more chances. The French winger registered 13 assists, the most in La Liga last season.
It remains to be seen whether Barcelona offer the winger a new contract as their financial issues simmer or whether they opt to let go of the exciting Frenchman.

The possible arrival of Sterling and Dembele will put some of our players on high alert. Maybe they’ll have to leave the club and look for game time elsewhere. It remains to be seen whether we manage to get the signings over the line because if we do, certain departures are likely to take place.
