Chelsea to offer four-year deal and signing on fee to sign World Cup-winning attacker

Transfer News: Chelsea to offer four-year-deal and a signing bonus for Ousmane Dembele

According to Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are set to offer out-of-contract Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele a four-year deal and a signing on fee to join them in the summer. However, it is said that the deal will still be short of what the France international expects.

Dembele joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund back in 2017 and in 5 years at the Camp Nou, he has had a very mixed time for the Catalan club. Injuries and inconsistency plagued the Frenchman in his first 3 years at the Spanish club but he has bounced back spectacularly this season.

The 25-year-old winger has been a player reborn under Xavi Hernandez this season for the Garnet and Blue. Dembele has played 32 games for the Catalan club this season scoring two goals and providing 13 assists across all competitions.

With the player set to be out of contract this summer and yet to pen down a new deal with the Spanish club, he could be available on a free transfer and Chelsea are set to offer the Frenchman a four -year-deal to bring the talented winger to Stamford Bridge.

Absolute steal?

They would also include a signing on fee, but it will apparently fall short of his expectations. Anyone who has seen Dembele play knows the talent that the man possesses and the 25-year-old is an excellent dribbler with a great eye for a pass.

A World Cup winner with France in 2018, the former Rennes man can bring something very different to the table and the options that we currently have in attack and he could add a lot of versatility to the team. Capable of playing on either wing or even in the wing-back positions, Dembele can add a lot to the Blues.

Chelsea’s priority to focus in the transfer market would certainly lie elsewhere with the Blues extremely short of options at the centre of defence. However, when a player like Dembele is available on a free, it is almost impossible to say no to him.

The fact that Dembele has already played under Thomas Tuchel back during their time at Dortmund means that the German coach will know how to coach the player and get the best out of him. It is a reunion that could prove beneficial for the Blues.

Getting Dembele on a free is an absolute steal. It remains to be seen if Chelsea manage to pull it off though, as soon as possible. They would need to put forth an offer that is too good for him to refuse, however.

Since they could save money on transfer fees, Chelsea would be wise to offer relatively stacked wages and a bloated signing on fee for Dembele, because given his age and ability, he would surely be worth it.
