A View From The Bridge

Impressive Chelsea loanee to stay at Stamford Bridge next season

Transfer News: Armando Broja to stay at Stamford Bridge next season

According to Chels HQ (via TuttoMercatoWeb) (h/t Football.London), Chelsea starlet Armando Broja is likely to stay and have a first-team role under Thomas Tuchel next season after an impressive loan spell at Southampton.

The Cobham graduate has played this season out on loan with the Saints from the Blues. To say that the Albanian forward has impressed will be an understatement with the talented striker being in tremendous form, especially in the first half of the campaign.

The 20-year-old has been one of Ralph Hassenhautl’s main men this season playing 38 games whilst scoring nine goals and providing one assist across all competitions. The striker is set to return to Stamford Bridge now and assess his options for the future.

Chelsea are said to have decided to reject all incoming offers for the Albanian, hinting at probably a prominent first-team role next season under Thomas Tuchel.

Deserved chance?

With the kind of promise that Broja has shown during his time out on loan, it is only fair that the Blues give him a chance to showcase his talent in a Chelsea shirt.

Coming from Cobham, there is no doubt that the Albanian will want to make it big at Stamford Bridge and stay on with the Blues for many years to come. If Tuchel decides to back Broja though, it means that one of the existing strikers could be set to leave the club in the summer.

The Blues’ striking woes in front of goal have been well documented with both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner struggling to put away chances and unable to find form. This has meant that Chelsea have had to depend on other areas of the pitch for goals.

Although Broja is not yet the most prolific goal scorer that exists, the Albanian is still just 20 and has all the tools required to develop into a beast for the Blues. If he is given a chance next season though, he will have to take it with both hands.

For the exploits that he has shown us this season, Broja deserves a run in the Blues’ first team. It remains to be seen if he is given a consistent run though.
