PSG lead the transfer race for Chelsea target Milan Skriniar
French giants PSG are currently leading the race to sign Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar as Chelsea continues to show interest in the player. The Slovak has just one year remaining on his contract. The Nerazzurri are holding out for £68 million, but according to The Sun, the Italian club could be tempted to let him go for around £50 million.
Paris Saint-Germain’s initial offer was considered low, but the Parisians have made an improved bid to capture the signing of the star defender.
Although the Slovakian international has appeared happy at Inter, his future at the Giuseppe Meazza is far from assured. The Italian club’s CEO has admitted that they’re open to selling the 27-year-old.
Chelsea should go for Skriniar
Skriniar has been at Inter for five years now and the Slovak has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A. He’s held the line for the Italian giants alongside fellow teammate Stefan de Vrij, who the 27-year-old has built an impressive partnership with.
The centre-back has made 215 appearances for Inter in his time in Milan. The Slovak has rarely missed a game due to injury and has been an important player for every manager he’s played under at the club.
With the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, it has become increasingly important for Chelsea to shore up the defensive positions. Cesar Azpilicueta, who has deputised as a centre-back on occasions, is also being linked with a move away.
Under the current circumstances, the Blues need to sign competent centre-backs to have any hope of challenging for titles in the upcoming season. Should the west London club pursue the signing of Skriniar, they’ll be getting an experienced player who can man the defensive line for years to come.

There aren’t many players on the market currently better than the Slovak and Chelsea need to be decisive now that the Romelu Lukaku saga is as good as resolved.
Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr have helped the Blues secure a top-four finish this season, but the pair are still young and inexperienced. For Chelsea to challenge for titles, Skriniar is the type of signing the club should be looking to make. And if the signing were to materialise, fans will certainly have high hopes for next season.
