Transfer News: Chelsea are still in negotiations with Inter Milan for Romelu Lukaku
According to football.london, the departure of Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea inches closer day by day with Inter Milan now confident of closing a deal soon. The 29-year-old is on course to return to Italy on loan this summer for a fee of £8.6million plus add-ons, according to
Inter CEO Guiseppe Marotta said that the Italian side were trying to sign both Lukaku and Paulo Dybala this summer. But he also admitted financial terms were a factor.
“We’re trying to sign Lukaku and Dybala, it depends on the financial situation too.”
Lukaku saga coming to an end?
Since his big-money return to Stamford Bridge last summer, Lukaku has had a torrid time at the club, and off-field interviews haven’t helped his cause either.
The Belgian registered just 15 goals in 44 appearances last season. The 29-year-old was unhappy with his game time as he started just 16 games in the league for Chelsea. For a man who was supposed to help us challenge for titles, his lack of impact was thoroughly underwhelming.
Thomas Tuchel preferred other attacking options in the Belgian’s place with Kai Havertz preferred by the manager as a so-called false nine. While none of Chelsea’s other attacking stars managed to light up the bridge, the Lukaku case seems different as the player looks keen to end his time with the Blues after just one year.

As the west London club line up possible moves for Raheem Sterling and Ousmane Dembele, it seems the 29-year-old’s time at Chelsea is drawing to a close. Tuchel also has his eyes set on Everton’s Richarlison as the German boss looks to reinforce the squad.
With proper additions to the squad, Lukaku’s departure will not be missed as a move to Italy seems best for both parties. The Belgian had the best run of his career at the Serie A club and he’ll be looking to rediscover that form. For the Blues, fans will hope the club can move on from the saga and focus on planning for next season.
