Fabrizio Romano: Sevilla ready to sell Chelsea target Jules Kounde on cut-price deal
According to the transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Sevilla are ready to sell Jules Kounde, who is a target for Chelsea, on a cut-price deal in the summer transfer window. This news would be a massive boost for the English club as they look to solidify their backline ahead of the next season.
The Blues have been pursuing Kounde for quite some time and have maintained him as their priority target even now. Thomas Tuchel has demanded the club secure the centre-back’s services, and it seems that they have finally found a breakthrough after all. That is because the Spanish club are willing to sell their star man at a lower cost.
Kounde has an €80million release clause in his current contract, but the La Liga side are open to parting ways with him for a discounted price of €65million. That being said, the West London club have not made an opening offer just yet, so it remains to be seen if they would take any action after this latest update.
Take the proposal!
The defence has always been the foundation of our success under Tuchel in recent times, which has helped us win many titles in a short time. As such, losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen have dealt a damning blow to our backline ahead of the upcoming campaign.
What’s more, Cesar Azpilicueta could also leave Stamford Bridge which would add to our defensive woes at this moment. At the same time, we also have to prepare for the future, considering how Thiago Silva is nearing the end of his playing career.
Trevoh Chalobah had enjoyed a breakthrough season with us in the previous campaign, but Malang Sarr is still not ready to take a more prominent role. As for Levi Colwill, perhaps he could use some time on loan with another Premier League side rather than forcing him into our system from the get-go.
Kounde, who has been among the best central defenders in Spain over the last few years, would greatly boost our defence right now. We have already covered lots of ground in our attempt to reach an agreement with the 23-year-old over the personal terms. Romano has stated that talks are in the final stages right now, which is a great thing indeed.

Earlier, Julen Lopetegui’s side had held a firm stance that they wanted the entire release clause to be paid to sell the Frenchman. Fortunately, it looks like they have changed their decision which would gladly be accepted by those at the London-based club.
