“Make them better” – Liverpool urged to sign Chelsea superstar this summer

Dean Saunders urges Liverpool to sign Chelsea superstar N’Golo Kante

Speaking on TALKSPORT as quoted by Football.London, former Liverpool star Dean Saunders has urged Liverpool to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante as he believes the Frenchman could make the Reds even better.

Kante joined Chelsea from Leicester City in 2016 and has since then gone on to become one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. The French midfielder has mesmerised one and all with his performances season upon season, including a sensational Champions League run last season.

The 31-year-old has struggled to have the same kind of influence that he used to have this season and has received criticism for his performances. The midfielder has played 42 times for Thomas Tuchel’s team this season scoring two goals and providing five assists across all competitions.

Speaking about the player, Saunders feels that the Frenchman is one of the very few players in the world capable of improving the existing Liverpool squad. Given that he continues to perform at a high level for both Chelsea and France, it is a fair assessment.

“I was looking at players in our league who could make them [Liverpool] better. I think Kante would make them better. I think Kante could slot into that midfield. They are a workman-like midfield. Fabinho, [Jordan] Henderson and Thiago [Alcantara], so I think somebody like Kante.”

Sell him?

Kante’s contract with the Blues expires next summer and he is yet to pen down a new longer deal with the West London club. Losing a player of his ability will be difficult for Chelsea to handle.

The Frenchman is 31, and his performances have been on a downward trend. Injuries have not helped his cause at all, and his irregular performances could be put down to the fact that he has not had a regular run in the team at all this season.

Despite all that, Kante is no way finished and if he wants to renew his contract we must definitely offer a new contract to our star man. At 31, Kante still has a few more years left at the top level and can be very useful to Thomas Tuchel’s team.

Liverpool are unlikely to be keen on a move for N’Golo Kante this summer and he is not the kind of signing they are usually after. Even if the Reds are actually interested, we must not sell him to our direct rivals as we will be strengthening them.

Kante to Liverpool doesn’t seem like it will materialise but for our good, we must either renew the player and keep him here for longer and sell him at the right price.
