Chelsea among four clubs in the fray for Jude Bellingham
According to Football. London, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea are set to fight it out for the signature of talented English midfielder Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
When arguably four of England’s top clubs are fighting over the signature of a player, it is pretty evident how much talent the player possesses. Jude Bellingham is a midfielder who has been destined for the very best in football and it may not be long before he returns to England.
A player whose shirt number at Birmingham was famously retired when he made the move to Borussia Dortmund in 2020, the talented English starlet has impressed during his time in the Championship as well as with the German club in Bundesliga.
One of the best young box-to-box midfielders in the footballing world at present, Bellingham played 43 games for the German club last season scoring six goals and providing 14 assists across all competitions. These numbers are very impressive for a player who plays in midfield and is not named Kevin de Bruyne.
Jurgen Klopp is said to be a huge fan of the player and wants to take him to Anfield but it’s easier said than done when the creme de la creme of England are chasing the player. He will also not come cheap as the Englishman and would easily command a nine-figure sum.
If the Blues indeed manage to sign Bellingham, he will be an instant upgrade on the players we have in midfield right now. Although N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are world-class players in their prime, age is not on their side and they do not perform at the same levels anymore.
Mateo Kovacic is an exceptional midfielder with truckloads of talent but injuries have never been kind to him during his career. Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley have had faltering careers with the Blues and their futures are not known yet.
Adding Bellingham to the already impressive mix of young midfielders in Billy Gilmour and Conor Gallagher would mean the Blues could have an enviable midfield for at least another decade. The prospect sounds mouth-watering at least on paper.
Yes, Chelsea will have to shell the big bucks for the talented midfielder but he will totally be worth it. Another thing is that Bellingham will have to want to come to Stamford Bridge over the other big clubs and the Blues will have a task in convincing him.
