Transfer News: Journo claims Liverpool won’t sign Chelsea player Christian Pulisic
Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic has been linked with a move away from the club, but according to Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports (h/t Express), Liverpool aren’t looking at signing the American. The 23-year-old is not an option for the Reds as things stand, despite being linked with a move away.
Pulisic has not been a regular at Stamford Bridge and he has been tipped to leave the club for a new challenge. But with two years remaining on his contract, it looks unlikely that the Blues will let him go this summer.
He has been an important player for the club under both Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel since his move from Borussia Dortmund. And at 23, the best is yet to come from him.
Pulisic will want games at Chelsea
If Pulisic were to remain at the club, the American superstar will have to fight for minutes again next season. It seems unlikely that the 23-year-old will relish a bit-part role at the club again.
The forward featured in only 22 league games last season, although an ankle injury ruled him out at the start of the season for a few months.
Joining in 2019/20, his three seasons at the club haven’t been the greatest, as fans have been disappointed with his end product. Considered one of the biggest talents in the German league, his signing at Chelsea was met with fanfare. But he hasn’t lived up to the expectations yet.
Chelsea fans have grown increasingly frustrated with their forward line as Romelu Lukaku, who is close to departing the club in a loan move to Inter Milan, was the highest goalscorer with 15 goals in all competitions last season. It would’ve been a great opportunity for Pulisic to make his mark, but the American failed in holding down a position in the team.
Thomas Tuchel has preferred Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech over the 23-year-old. Fans prefer the inclusion of Timo Werner over Pulisic as they believe the German has more of an impact when he plays. It remains to be seen whether the American will decide to stay and be able to make his mark on the team next season or look for fresh pastures.
