According to the Spanish newspaper AS [Print Edition] (h/t Daily Mail Online), Real Madrid have decided to cool their interest in a potential transfer for Chelsea target Aurelien Tchouameni. He has attracted attention from some of the top clubs across Europe following his excellent performances for both club and country.
AS Monaco have become alerted to the situation, and they have set an asking price of £60million for Tchouameni’s services. Real, who were the frontrunners in the transfer race because of the player’s preference, have tracked back on their interest after the valuation was revealed.
That being said, the Madrid club have not given up just yet as they still hope to reduce the price tag to around £40million or £50million. The Blues would undoubtedly be boosted by the latest developments, although they will still need to deal with competition from Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain.
Thomas Tuchel’s side must make use of this situation to their best since the playing field has been levelled, with the Spanish club no longer being the favourites to sign the 22-year-old. The La Liga side were looking for a long-term replacement for Casemiro, but they have left the negotiations and have “cooled” down their interest.
Unfortunately, the sanctions are still in place, which means that the UK Government prevents us from engaging in any sort of transfer dealings for now. As such, we are left in a kind of limbo, which does not bode well for our long-term interests. Hence, the club must do their best to solve this crisis for our future prospects.
Moreover, the other interested parties will be alerted to this situation, and they will look to cement themselves in the lead moving forward. We are unable to make any moves at this moment, which the club officials must realise and rectify by facilitating a sale at the earliest.
The current asking price for the Frenchman is a bit expensive despite his vast potential and the years left in his bag. Then again, with Jorginho and N’Golo Kante nearing the end of their playing career, we are desperate for quality additions who can replace world-class quality like the Chelsea duo.
Tchouameni can be that man but whether the Ligue 1 prospect would be a part of our next season’s squad or not remains to be seen. We hope that is the case, but there are long ways to go before we can put ourselves in contention because of the current circumstances.
