Transfer News: Chelsea transfer blow as Real Madrid reignite interest in Aurelien Tchouameni
According to FootMercato (h/t Liverpool Echo), Chelsea have been handed a transfer blow with Real Madrid set to reignite their interest in long-term transfer target Aurelien Tchouameni from Monaco.
Tchouameni has been the subject of interest from many clubs around Europe following the impressive displays he has put in whilst playing for Monaco and the French national team this season. The 22-year-old is undoubtedly a very talented player and it comes as no surprise that Spanish giants Real Madrid are interested in the midfielder.
Along with Chelsea and Real Madrid, Liverpool and Barcelona are also said to be keen on signing the former Bordeaux man and if Tchouameni was to leave the Ligue 1 giants in the summer, he will definitely not be short of suitors. A holding midfielder who can also play in a deeper role, the Frenchman can only get better considering he is still so young.
The talented youngster has played 49 times for the French giants scoring 5 goals and providing 3 assists during this time. He has also won eight caps in a very talented French midfield and it is very evident that Didier Deschamps rates him highly.
Hottest prospect?
There is absolutely no doubt that Aurelien Tchouameni is one of the hottest prospects going around in French football and interest in him comes as no surprise. Most teams would want a young and dynamic midfielder like him in their team.
Chelsea have a pickle to solve with two of their first-choice midfielders in N’Golo Kante and Jorginho entering the final year of their contracts. Both players are in and around the 30-year-old mark and in Tchouameni, the Blues will be getting a potential replacement if either were to leave in the future.
Working under a manager of Thomas Tuchel’s reputation could just be what the Frenchman needs at this stage of his career. Already a well-rounded player, Tchouameni could be able to refine his skills further under the tutelage of the world-class German coach at the Bridge.
However, with a club of Real Madrid’s stature in the mix, Chelsea will not have it easy trying to convince the Frenchman. His interest might be swayed towards the Spanish giants but the Blues should try their best to convince the 22-year-old.
It remains to be seen what happens with Tchouameni. Hopefully, he fulfils his potential at Stamford Bridge and leads our midfield for years to come.
