Transfer News: Chelsea target Isco announces Real Madrid exit

According to Football.London, Chelsea have been handed a huge boost in the pursuit of Isco with the Spaniard announcing his exit from Real Madrid when his contract expires this summer.

The former Malaga man joined Los Blancos in 2013 and after nine years at the club, he is set to move on in search of pastures new. The Spanish playmaker’s time at Los Blancos has been a tale of two halves with Isco being one of Real Madrid’s most important players for many years before suddenly falling off a cliff into oblivion.

The current campaign has been yet another disappointing outing for Isco despite the return of Carlo Ancelotti, a manager under whom he previously thrived. The 30-year-old has made a measly 17 appearances for Real Madrid this season scoring two goals and providing no assists across all competitions.

Isco is out of contract with the Spanish giants at the end of the current campaign and has confirmed that he will not sign a new deal with them. Chelsea are said to be interested in the talented Spaniard and could bring him to Stamford Bridge.

A gamble?

To say that Isco needs a fresh start to resurrect his faltering career would be a massive understatement with the Spaniard enduring a wretched last few seasons with Los Blancos.

The Spaniard is versatile and can play in multiple positions including left-wing, attacking midfield and sometimes even central midfield. In Tuchel’s formation with two hybrid 10s, Isco could easily slot in on the left-hand side and weave the magic he was once known for.

On a free, Isco comes without much risk from the economic point of view. The talent that the man possesses is absolutely no surprise either, with the Spanish international easily one of the astounding playmakers in the world until just a few years ago.

At 30, it is not yet too late for Isco. He just needs a new place and a new environment and management that trusts him and backs him to bring out his quality again. If Isco indeed manages to reproduce the magic of the yesteryear, he could be a great player for the Blues.

Signing Isco will be a gamble we will be taking. It is a gamble that does not cost us much and if it pays off, the rewards could be manifold.
