Transfer News: Chelsea battle Manchester United for Stuttgart star Borna Sosa
According to TEAMtalk (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are in line to face off against Manchester United to sign Stuttgart star Borna Sosa ahead of the summer transfer window. He has quite often stood out with his splendid displays throughout this season despite his side struggling in the relegation zone.
Man United are in line to undergo a rebuilding phase under Erik ten Hag, who is set to move to Old Trafford at the end of this term. Ten Hag is keen to bring in Sosa as part of his project this summer, and he has expressed a strong interest in securing the defender’s services.
The Blues would undoubtedly be dealt a transfer blow by this update as they are eager to get their hands on the Croatian international. A potential tussle could be awaiting in the coming months if both clubs actively target the full-back after the current campaign.
Sosa to Chelsea or Man Utd?
The 24-year-old could prove to be a necessary signing for the West London side, considering how there is a lack of reliable options in the left wing-back position. Ben Chilwell is the only choice that instils us with confidence, as Marcos Alonso has largely been inconsistent throughout this campaign.
Even though Emerson Palmieri is expected to return to Stamford Bridge after this term, he may not be a reliable option either. After all, he was loaned out to Olympique Lyonnais last summer after being deemed dispensable for that reason. Hence it would be best if other options are assessed in the coming months.
Sosa is a great shout indeed, looking at how he has scored two goals and nine assists from 29 matches across all competitions. That is a fantastic return for a German side threatened with relegation since the start of this season. Perhaps that is why Ten Hag is also keen to bring the left-back to Carrington this summer.

The Todd Boehly led consortium is set to take over the club’s ownership in the coming days, which has provided us with a massive boost. After all, Thomas Tuchel’s side can finally get back to working normally, which means that we can finally engage in transfer dealings.
As such, we could be ready to take on the Red Devils should the sale process is completed in the coming days. We hope to see that happen at the earliest so that Tuchel can finally be backed to the hilt in the summer transfer window. We have to wait and see where Sosa would end up playing in the next campaign.
