Chelsea target Aurelian Tchouameni has agreed to terms with Real Madrid and Liverpool
According to Football.London, Chelsea could have been handed a huge blow in their pursuit of talented French midfielder Aurelian Tchouameni with the player supposed to have agreed to transfer terms with Real Madrid and Liverpool.
The former Bordeaux man joined Monaco in 2020 and has since then gone on to become one of the highest-rated prospects in world football. The defensive midfielder, also capable of playing further forward is a subject of attention from the big boys in Europe and looks set for a bright future in the game.
The 22-year-old has played 50 games for the Ligue 1 giants this season scoring five goals and providing three assists across all competitions. He has also already won eight caps for a very talented French midfield roster and has not looked out of place in the World Champions’ squad.
Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Real Madrid have all been credited with an interest in the talented player but it seems like the latter two are more likely to land him. This is considering the fact that he has already agreed to personal terms with them.
Yet another miss?
Whilst Tchouameni has not agreed to personal terms with Chelsea, it could be because we are still operating under special restrictions following the sanctions placed on us and we do not have the permission to negotiate with any player over a transfer.
A new era is about to dawn at Chelsea when the takeover gets completed and Tchouameni could have been an excellent addition to kickstart our rebuild. The 22-year-old has all that it takes to succeed in a Blues midfield and would have been the perfect signing for Thomas Tuchel’s system.
Although there is no immediate concern yet, we could find ourselves with a bit of a crisis in midfield to navigate around. N’Golo Kante and Jorginh’s contracts expire next summer and neither has penned a new deal yet. As good as Kovacic is, he struggles to stay fit at times.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley have largely failed to impress. Although we have our own starlets in Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour who have shown excellent potential, Tchouameni is a class apart.

All factors considered, Tchouameni is not the only midfielder we are linked to in the transfer window. Whilst the deal is not yet done, if we fail to sign the Frenchman, we will have to look elsewhere and hope to find the right names to fit our system.
Landing the Frenchman would have been a coup of sorts. Unfortunately, it looks as if he will continue his development at either the Santiago Bernabeu or Anfield.
