Boost for Chelsea as PSG are ready to part ways with South American superstar

PSG are ready to part ways with Chelsea target Neymar for the right price

According to GOAL (h/t Football.London), Chelsea could be in for a transfer boost with PSG said to be willing to sell Brazilian superstar Neymar in the summer if the right offer comes.

PSG are fresh off renewing Kylian Mbappe’s lucrative new contract and have successfully prevented their young sensation from joining Real Madrid. The repercussions however could impact Neymar with the club supposedly willing to part ways with him and balance the books.

Having played 28 games for the Parisiens this season, the former Barcelona man has scored 13 goals and provided eight assists across all competitions. Injury-plagued for most of the campaign, the 30-year-old has still produced decent numbers.

Neymar is a global superstar.

Despite Neymar’s admission as quoted by Fabrizio Romano that he wants to stay at PSG, there appears to be some belief that the club could choose to do otherwise. Whether this will encourage Chelsea to make a move remains to be seen.

The statement signing?

Chelsea are in the midst of a takeover and the club is going to enter a new era under new ownership. The new owners might want to make a statement signing to assert their presence at Stamford Bridge.

When it comes to statement signing, it does not get much better than Neymar. The Brazilian is one of the biggest superstars in football and signing him to the Blues would probably go a long way in establishing the new ownership at Chelsea.

Mbappe staying could mean the end of the road for Neymar

The Brazilian is undoubtedly a quality footballer and will help Chelsea a lot from a sporting perspective and a marketing point of view. However, the economics involved in the deal will be very high and the Blues will have to decide if it is worth it.

Chelsea have a plethora of options to play in the forward area and it is not that they need Neymar to reinforce the attackers in the team. However, Neymar can offer something very different and is capable of winning matches single-handedly.

Neymar will not come cheap. But if the new owners crave a ‘statement signing’, then it cannot get much better than the Brazilian.
