Marcos Alonso could leave Chelsea after a spat with Thomas Tuchel
According to Di Marzio reporter Nathan Gissing (h/t Mirror), the future of Marcos Alonso at Chelsea looks uncertain after he had a “heated conversation ” with Thomas Tuchel. Although the club has denied it, there appears to be some truth in it.
Alonso was subbed off just before the end of the first half during their Premier League match against Wolves last Sunday. To the relief of the fans, the substitution was tactical and not due to injury.
It is unlikely for a player to be subbed in the first half except for an injury concern or poor performance as the coaching team would plan the team days before the match. However, Tuchel revealed his decision during his post-match press conference.
“Marcos was not injured, it was just a decision we made.”
Is Marcos Alonso’s time at Chelsea drawing to an end?
If the report is accurate, the left-back’s future at Stamford Bridge does not appear bright. He has been in and out of the Chelsea team recently and only got a consistent run thanks to Ben Chilwell’s injury.
He still has a year left on his contract, and staying at Chelsea might not be the best decision. Such squabbles with managers have ruined the careers of several players and Alonso could do with a new challenge.
Even though he has another year left on his contract, the Spanish international, at 31, has been linked with Barcelona. However, after this alleged incident, it remains to be seen if a transfer will gather pace.

Even though he is most likely to move to Spain, he must consider the current scenario. There are more Premier League matches, as well as FA Cup finals this month. We’ll never know if Tuchel would have subbed him with that in mind and he misunderstood that and got furious with the manager.
