Transfer News: Inter Milan are pushing for the signature of Chelsea target Gleison Bremer
According to Calciomercato (h/t Football.London), Inter Milan are ‘prioritising’ an agreement with Torino for the transfer of Gleison Bremer amid Chelsea interest.
The Brazilian has proved to be a rock-solid defender in the backline for Torino in recent campaigns. His impact to push the Italian team higher up the Serie A table has been immense. Having played 33 matches in the recent campaign, the 25-year-old was a regular at the back for the defensively solid Italian side.
Chelsea doesn’t seem to be in a great spot regarding the contact of some of their crucial central defenders. Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are set to leave the club, which is going to open a huge defensive void in the first-team squad.
Amid such a situation the Blues have been trying to secure quality reinforcements and have shortlisted Bremer as a potential solution. Thomas Tuchel’s side is in need of a revamp and no other position screams of it as loud as the central defensive roster.
However, not only Chelsea, but Inter Milan also has taken a great interest in the 25-year-old Brazilian. The Nerazzurri have already reached personal terms agreement with Bremer and now have been pushing to finalise the deal with Torino.
Big blow for Chelsea?
Chelsea might have to struggle a lot in the following campaign if they don’t sign one or more quality reinforcement. As César Azpilicueta’s future is also up in the air, Thiago Silva would be left as the only recognized senior centre-back on the roster. Even though Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr are available, they might not be ready to take up the role yet.
Bremer has shown that he is physically strong and tactically intelligent. The 25-year-old has played 110 matches for Torino since moving to the club in 2018. He is one of such players who rarely gets injured and can provide Chelsea with a lot of game time every season.
He hasn’t played in the Premier League before, which might be the only disadvantage in signing him. However, considering the Brazilian has shown the urge to work and learn under different managers; he might be able to adopt the system at Chelsea swiftly with the help of a world-class coaching staff.

But, Inter’s aggression in the transfer race reflects that Chelsea might not get the opportunity to snatch away the transfer. The Italian team already have an advantage due to the personal agreement, now they would push Torio to close the deal as soon as possible, which would end the Blues’ pursuit of the central defender.
