Inter Milan are interested in signing Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea at a reduced price
According to Calciomercato (h/t ESPN), Inter Milan has prioritised the signing of Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Since making his £97.5 million move to Chelsea last summer, the Belgian has failed to meet expectations. By bagging only 15 goals and providing two assists in 42 appearances, Lukaku has not given Chelsea their money’s worth.
The 29-year-old openly professed his love for Inter last season in an interview that wasn’t well-received by the Blues faithful. It is fair to say that Lukaku hasn’t made life easier for him at Stamford Bridge.
Now it is believed that Inter Milan wants to re-sign Lukaku back and have made him a priority transfer target over Juventus’ Paulo Dybala for the summer transfer window. The Italian giants are hopeful that Chelsea will reduce their asking price for the Belgian striker.
However, The Nerazzurri don’t want the big-money move to affect their other target pursuits and thus have been working towards structuring a solution. Whether it will meet Chelsea’s expectations or force their hand to part ways with Lukaku remains to be seen.
Should Chelsea let Lukaku move to Inter?
Lukaku’s display has remained below-par this season, seeing him finish low down on the goalscorers list. While he finished the campaign as the Blues’ top scorer, it largely masks what has been a poor run of form.
The Belgian previously played with Manchester United and Everton, hence the problem isn’t his adaptation. He has been awarded a lot of chances by the manager in the first half of the season, but it seems the Belgian hasn’t been able to play freely under Tuchels’s tactics.
While parting with Lukaku sounds tempting it might not be in our best interests. As the club doesn’t have much depth in terms of a prolific goalscorer, it wouldn’t be a great idea in offloading the 29-year-old in the coming summer window.

Chelsea paid a lot for him, which might not be retrievable entirely. Rather than facing a massive loss, our team should give him another chance. He might be able to rejuvenate his form next season and give him a chance to rekindle what has been a flagging career.
