Transfer News: Former Chelsea boss keen on signing Blues starlet on loan

Everton boss Frank Lampard wants to sign Conor Gallagher on loan from Chelsea

According to TalkSport (h/t Football.London), Everton boss Frank Lampard wants to sign Chelsea midfield starlet Conor Gallagher on loan next season.

The former Blues boss joined Everton as their coach midway through this season and somehow managed to see his side to safety from relegation with a stunning comeback win against Crystal Palace last night. Now assured of a place in the English top flight next season, Lampard is looking to rebuild the Toffees.

The 22-year-old has been out on loan from Chelsea at Crystal Palace for the season and the young English midfielder has been sensational for Patrick Vieira’s side. He has gone from strength to strength to the extent of probably being Palace’s most influential player this campaign.

Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher was named the Crystal Palace Player of the Season 2021/22.

Gallagher has played 38 games for Palace this season, scoring eight goals and providing five assists across all competitions. Such numbers have made Europe sit up and take notice of the Chelsea loanee and teams could already be making plans to secure his signature.

Part of the team?

After the rather promising season that Gallagher has been having out on loan, Thomas Tuchel could be keen to integrate the midfielder in his first team squad and give him a prominent role next season.

Both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante’s futures with the Blues are uncertain with the contract of both players expiring next summer. Whilst the latter could stay, the Italian is attracting attention from Serie A this summer.

Whilst Mateo Kovacic is a dependable player, injuries have not been kind to him this season. Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley have been extremely inconsistent and could be moved on if the right offer comes in. Saul Niguez has struggled to impress on loan in London and is likely to return to Atletico Madrid.

All signs point to Chelsea having slots to fill in midfield come the summer and in Conor Gallagher and Billy Gilmour, the Blues have two players ready to take the next step in their careers. They could develop into key pieces of the Blues’ first-team jigsaw next season.

Frank Lampard might just have to look at other options as he might not be able to land the Chelsea mant. Gallagher seems destined to succeed in a Blues shirt and it is in our best interests to give him the push needed to succeed at the top level.
