Everton boss Frank Lampard reveals why he will send thank you message to Chelsea star Mason Mount

According to football.london, former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard spoke about thanking Mason Mount for helping his team in the relegation battle as the Blues beat Leeds United and Everton drew against Watford in the Premier League. The Blues’ win helped Everton go two points clear of Leeds on Wednesday.

Lampard’s side is two points clear of Jesse Marsch’s side at the bottom of the PL table, with only a few games left to save them from relegation. The west Londoners were in a different battle to secure third place and a spot in the Champions League next season.

Mason Mount gave the Blues the lead after only four minutes as he curled the ball into the top corner, leaving Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier no chance. Christian Pulisic and Romelu Lukaku extended Chelsea’s lead as they inch closer to clinching a place in the Champions League.

Mason Mount was on fire, scoring the first goal and then assisting the second with a fantastic side foot lay off to guide the ball into the path of Pulusic, who took a touch and curled the ball into the bottom right corner.

Ex-Chelsea star impressed by Mason Mount

Lampard was delighted by Mount’s performance against the Whites and went on to praise him during the post-match press conference. He expressed his wish to send a thank you message to the Blues midfielder- one he coached at Derby and then at Chelsea before his time at Goodison Park.

“It was useful, I’ll send him a message of thanks later. Those things are out of your hands but, you know, Mason’s a fantastic player and I’m pleased he’s those numbers because he’s a player of such a high level and those numbers reflect it.”

The Toffees still have to get some points on the board in their remaining matches to make sure they are safe from the relegation threat. Chelsea also cannot sit back and relax as they still have work to do to complete the season on a high note.

Arsenal and Spurs aren’t that far behind but the North London derby tonight ensures that anything but a Spurs win means we are confirmed to finish in the top four.

But this victory will surely boost their confidence going forward, especially before they take on Liverpool in the FA Cup final this weekend. The Blues would require a similar or even better performance from Mason and the team to beat the Reds and win the trophy.
