Fabrizio Romano: Christian Pulisic is set for talks with Chelsea regarding his future this summer
According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano via Caught Offside (h/t football.london), Chelsea star Christian Pulisic will hold talks with the club regarding his future this summer.
The American international joined the Blues in the summer of 2019 and enjoyed a brilliant debut season at Stamford Bridge. He has continued to impress and remains a dangerous player upfront. However, injuries have largely limited his impact in England.
The 23-year-old made 38 appearances for the club this season, scoring eight goals and assisting five more. While the return is not bad, it is to be considered that 17 of those appearances have come off the bench. While Pulisic remains an important player, he is far from guaranteed a spot in the starting XI on a weekly basis.
The American international, for his part, is keen to stay at Stamford Bridge. Whether it is to gain clarity over his role or otherwise, he is set for a summer conversation with club officials regarding his future.
Pulisic’s antics on his social media accounts set a poor precedent regarding his future prospects at the club. He has removed mentions of representing Chelsea from his profile and also changed a picture of him in a Chelsea jersey on Instagram.
Whether this is a faux pas or means something more remains to be seen. Either way, it would appear that pieces are on the move ahead of the summer talks.
A pacy player capable of playing anywhere along the frontline, the 23-year-old is a difficult player to mark when in form. While Thomas Tuchel has afforded him opportunities, it is fair to say that we have not seen the youngster develop into an overwhelming force on the flank.
Whether the German boss will assure his player of a better future at the Bridge or he will end up seeking a future elsewhere remains to be seen. At 23, the American is yet to hit his peak and it would be foolhardy on Chelsea’s part to lose him.

With Todd Boehly set to take over, Chelsea are set for a new era, this time under American ownership. Having a USMNT star like Pulisic to headline the rebuild has major implications both on and off the field. It also provides the owners with a recognizable face back home. Whether this will factor into the club’s considerations during the talks remains to be seen.
