According to the transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Chelsea are willing to accept proposals for securing the signature of Hakim Ziyech in a potential transfer move. The attacking midfielder has found it difficult to replicate the form he had shown at Ajax after moving to Stamford Bridge back in 2020.
The Blues had spent £33.3million in transfer fees to secure Ziyech’s services, with the expense potentially rising to £36.6million based on add-ons. He has failed to live up to the expectations that were placed on him following his impressive tenure at the Amsterdam based club.
However, it seems that the West Londoners are finally calling it a day when it comes to the Moroccan’s future. Romano has now confirmed that they are open to negotiating a potential sale for Ziyech ahead of this summer. That being said, they will decide to only part ways with him if an important offer that cannot be refused arrives their way.
The 29-year-old has played 44 matches in total this term for Thomas Tuchel’s side scoring eight goals and assisting five times across all competitions. There was a brief period during this campaign when it seemed like Ziyech had finally overcome his struggles and was on the right track to reaching his top form.
The Premier League ace was carrying the frontline at one point, which did give the supporters some hope that he may finally bore success for them. Unfortunately, that was not the case, and it seems that the club have concluded that he has received enough opportunities to make a case for himself.
Ziyech’s troubles at the Bridge are down to the stylistic clash between his playstyle and how Tuchel utilises his wingers. Even if the former is a number ten by trade, he has been used on the right-hand side of the attack throughout his time with us.
He offers solid depth to our team as things stand. Selling players without replacing them is simply weakening the depth and quality of the team and those that watched Ziyech in the Netherlands know all about his quality.
Even at Chelsea, he has had some very good spells this season. It remains to be seen which clubs come in for the Moroccan star but given his talent and age, he can still hack it at big teams.
If it comes to selling him, our fans would hope that the club can recoup as much as possible from the amount they had paid to the Eredivisie club. Whether that will happen or not, though, remains to be seen.
