Chelsea target Christopher Nkunku drops a hint about his future
Speaking in an interview as quoted by football.london, RB Leipzig star Christopher Nkunku offers thoughts on his future transfer plans ahead of reported Chelsea interest in the talented Frenchman.
The French striker has been one of the breakout stars in European football this season and has made head turns with his scintillating performances. A former PSG youth player, Nkunku joined Bundesliga club in 2019 and has since then gone on to become a key player for Leipzig.
The 24-year-old hybrid striker has played 51 games for the club this season scoring 35 goals and providing 20 assists across all competitions. Such numbers are simply spectacular and the French youngster is truly becoming a special player.
Chelsea are said to be really interested in signing Christopher Nkunku and amidst all the interest, the Frenchman offered his thoughts on his future plans. It is fair to say that Chelsea have work to do.
“Paris is my home, my favourite club. I don’t close any doors. “Everything is possible in football. It’s nice to have the biggest clubs in the world interested in me. But it’s also great to see that Leipzig are doing everything to keep me.”
Try to pursue him?
Nkunku will be a great signing for any team and the Blues must pursue him to hilt and try to add him to the squad. He is at the right age to take his career to the next level and there are few better clubs than Chelsea where he can do that right now.
Our striking woes in front of goal is no secret to anybody who has watched us with both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner misfiring and failing to put the chances away. We’ve had to depend on other areas of the pitch for goals and that is not a sustainable thing.
Signing Nkunku would give us a player with great goal scoring and chance creating abilities and Thomas Tuchel would love to have the player in his ranks. Although not an out-and-out striker, Nkunku could do a job playing upfront as the sole forward.
The player has made his admission that he would always prefer a move to Paris which makes sense considering his past with the club but it does not mean he could not consider a move to Stamford Bridge. A reunion with Thomas Tuchel kind of makes sense for the player as well.

It remains to be seen what happens with Nkunku but if he is available, we should try and sign him at all costs. It could finally solve our lack of an infallible goalscorer leading the line.
