Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel accepts Pep Guardiola’s remark that everyone supports Liverpool
According to the Metro, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel believes it is difficult to refute Pep Guardiola’s claim that everyone in the country loves Liverpool. He is, however, more than willing to upset the nation by winning the FA Cup on Saturday.
Guardiola made waves last week when he said that “the media and everyone” favour Liverpool, while also criticising his rivals’ record of just winning one Premier League title in the last three decades. Real Madrid recently knocked Man City out of the Champions League semifinals, and Pep would be envious that the Reds made it to Paris.
Tuchel, who believes Jurgen Klopp can depict his team as the sympathetic underdog even when they aren’t, understands Guardiola’s point of view. The Chelsea boss had the same feeling when he was in Germany; he believes the whole country used to support Dortmund when the Reds manager was with them.
“I can understand why he made it. I can understand why he has that feeling. In general, I would say it is hard to really argue with it. I believe I can understand what he meant. There are huge sympathies for Liverpool. I feel that as well, in the whole country”
“You know Klopp is the master of being the underdog. He can talk you into being the underdog against Villareal and against Benfica, and it’s a miracle, miracle how they even draw against them.”
Thomas Tuchel happy to upset his German counterpart
The Blues gaffer is ready to upset the Reds boss by sabotaging Liverpool’s quadruple hopes. The west Londoners would achieve this by winning the FA Cup on Saturday; they have previously lost a Carabao Cup final to Merseyside this season.
Tuchel also mentions Klopp as a fantastic individual, who is also funny and a great coach. Tuchel has previously followed in Klopp’s legendary footsteps, taking up jobs at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund after the fellow countryman abandoned those positions.
They now meet off in what appears to be an epic showdown of Premier League titans. The current European champions are up against a team considered to be among the best in the world at what they do. We can expect a thrilling match involving matchups such as Romelu Lukavs Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah against Rudiger, and Jorginho vs Thiago Alcantara in the midfield. It’s going to be an amazing matchup, and we’d like to come out on top.

The Blues would seek to build on their recent three-nil victory over Leeds United. Prior to this win, they had not won in their previous five games. We would like to see them finish the season well, and what more can we ask for when we have the possibility to win the FA Cup against a bitter rival.
