Transfer News: Chelsea are close to signing Jules Kounde after reaching personal terms
According to transfer guru Andreas Korssund (h/t the Sun), Chelsea could complete the signature of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde as soon as the new owners take charge of the club.
Kounde has become a young revelation of the campaign after putting in awe-inspiring performances for Sevilla. The Frenchman has played 43 matches across all competitions in this term, scoring three goals and assisting 1onemore. His contributions have helped his team hold onto a top-four spot in La Liga.
Chelsea have been highly interested in Kounde for a long time. The Blues even agreed on personal terms with the player last summer but failed to reach the transfer agreement with the Spanish team.
The situation at Chelsea has become dire considering that Antonio Rudiger is on his way to Real Madrid after refusing to sign a renewal contract. His defensive partners Andreas Christensen, César Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are also expected to choose the exit door in the upcoming transfer window.
It is now believed that Kounde has agreed to Personal terms with Chelsea and is looking forward to the switch. The Blues are expected to conclude the transfer pursuit after the new owners take charge of the club. Thomas Tuchel’s team might have to pay Sevilla’s demanded £59million fee to complete the transfer.
A good deal?
Chelsea have found themselves in hot water and the situation is only getting worse with every passing day. The defence contingent is expected to take the biggest hit as several crucial players are keen to move on.
Jules Kounde has given consistent performance throughout the campaign and remains a highly effective centre-back. Despite being very young, the 23-year-old can have an instant impact at Chelsea considering he has played a good amount of football in the Spanish top-tier league.
