Agent of Ruben Loftus-Cheek rules out Lazio transfer amid Chelsea claim
According to @tuttosport via @insidefutbol (h/t Football.London), The agent of Ruben Loftus-Cheek has suggested that there hasn’t been any contract with Lazio regarding the transfer of the Chelsea midfielder.
The Cobham graduate has played 40 matches across all competitions in this campaign, which is a significant achievement for a player who has struggled with recurring injuries throughout his Chelsea tenure. He has also had his moments in what was an underwhelming campaign for the Blues.
Amid the injury of the Blues’ formidable midfield three (N’Golo Kanté, Jorginho and Mateo Kovačić), the Englishman stepped up and delivered some convincing spells under pressure. It did his fortunes good under Thomas Tuchel.
Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio were interested in signing Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea. However, the 26-year-old midfielder’s agent has ruled out such a possibility while talking in a recent interview.
“He and [Maurizio] Sarri have an excellent relationship, but for the moment there is nothing [with Lazio].”
The agent even added that his client would be happy to continue at Chelsea as the club remains one of the biggest in the world despite the ownership dilemma and imposed sanctions.
“Despite the club being in a transformative phase [owing to a change in ownership], Chelsea are still a top club. It is difficult to leave such a club.”
How can Ruben Loftus-Cheek help Chelsea?
Chelsea’s regular midfield trio has taken a setback in performance in this campaign. They remained out of action for a significant time of the season and when they returned, they weren’t able to put out their best spell. Kante and Jorginho struggled to maintain consistency and failed to produce in some of the most crucial matches of the season.
Considering the Frenchman and the Italian midfielder are ageing, they might not be able to provide the same performance in the coming years. Someone has to step up and manage the workload then and Ruben Loftus-Cheek seems to be an incredible option for the manager.

The Englishman is a Chelsea academy graduate and is accustomed to the structure and demand of the team. He seems to be committed to the project. His stay at the club would be a boost for the Blues’ squad depth. Now it remains to be seen whether Thomas Tuchel includes him in his plan for next season.
