Transfer News: Leeds United are interested in signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi
According to TEAMtalk (h/t Football.London), Leeds United are interested in securing the signature of Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi in the summer transfer window. He is currently plying his trade out on loan at Besiktas, where he has enjoyed quite a solid campaign this season.
The Belgian went out on loan to join the Turkish giants last summer and he will return once his loan spell ends this year. His strong performances this season have attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, with Leeds, namely, being one of them.
The Blues want to part ways with the Belgian, and the Whites’ interest would definitely help in that regard. He has also become a transfer target for unknown clubs across Spain, Italy and Germany going by this news. That could help his parent club gain a solid fee from his potential sale, considering how he is currently valued at around £9million.
A departure finally on the cards?
The 28-year-old has garnered an impressive goal output in the Turkish Super Lig this term, which could probably have prompted the interested parties to target him this summer. After all, scoring 14 goals and assisting five times from 28 league matches is a great return indeed.
Fortunately, that would help us in this case as it enables us to sell the Blues loanee at a decent price moving forward. One could say that the West London side could try to move him on at a fee higher than his current valuation. After all, he has gathered quite a demand for his services, so taking that path is certainly reasonable.
While our attacking options have struggled to get going this term, it does not mean that we should try to give Batshuayi a final chance. He has failed to make an impact in the past, and there is no reason to think that he can turn things around in the future.
Moreover, Kai Havertz has been a revelation for Thomas Tuchel in the centre-forward role, while Timo Werner has impressed in the past few matches. Romelu Lukaku is still struggling to showcase his qualities, but that does not indicate any way for Batshuayi to make a case with us.

We should sell Batshuayi for a reasonable price and add that amount to our transfer budget for this summer. Tuchel needs to be backed after this campaign, especially in defence, and parting ways with the Belgian international would certainly help in that regard.
Let’s hope that Leeds and the other unknown clubs would actively target the Chelsea forward this summer to help raise some money for us. Only time will tell how this situation will pan out in the next few months.
