Juventus show interest in Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri
According to Calciomercato (h/t Football.London), Juventus are considering a move for Chelsea left-back Emerson Palmieri. It is believed that the Serie A club has been tracking the Brazilian defender for years apparently asking for information regarding his future at the club.
The 27-year-old has found it difficult to secure a place in the starting line-up under Thomas Tuchel. Palmieri is currently out on loan at Olympique Lyonnais and has gone down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian defender has made 71 appearances, bagging two goals and five assists across all competitions for the Blues to date.
The German manager has preferred Ben Chilwell who was starting to nail down a regular position in this Chelsea setup before sustaining an injury against the Bianconeri earlier this campaign in the Champions League. The English defender is potentially ruled out for the rest of the season.
Marcos Alonso has filled in quite capably in the absence of the former Leicester City man. All of this means that the former AS Roma man has featured rarely in the last couple of seasons at Chelsea. The lure of more game time could be enough to tempt him to another top club.
Palmieri done at Stamford Bridge?
At 27, the Brazilian international is heading into his prime years. Emerson Palmieri would thus be looking to play regularly if he wants to make inroads into the national team. That seems like an unlikely situation given the kind of option that we possess on the left side at the moment.
His experience in the Italian league with the Giallorossi could also help him adapt to the Juventus set-up more efficiently. The Brazilian left-back has become an isolated figure at the Stamford Bridge off-late and a move away from the club could seem like an optimum solution to resurrect his career.
At the same time, Chelsea could use whatever funds they can as they usher into a new era post-Roman Abramovich. With the imminent departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, the club could be looking to make some key transfers to bolster their defensive setup.

Keeping this in mind, the interest from the Turin-based club could actually be a win-win situation for the player as well as the club. We should therefore be on the lookout for the best deal that could possibly help secure a better future for the club.
At the same time, we should see whether or not Tuchel has any long-term plans for Palmieri at the club. If not, then shipping him away for a decent fee seems like the best option for the Stamford Bridge outfit.
