Transfer News: Chelsea battle Tottenham Hotspur to sign Inter Milan starlet Martin Satriano
According to The Mirror, Chelsea will battle it out with Tottenham Hotspur to secure the services of Inter Milan starlet Martin Satriano ahead of the summer transfer window. He is currently out on loan at Brest, where he has enjoyed a solid spell, having joined them in January.
Satriano has made himself noticeable across Europe following his sensational performances in France this year. That has attracted interest from the Blues and Tottenham alongside Marseille and LOSC Lille. That could result in a potential transfer war for his signature at the end of the current season.
Thomas Tuchel’s side is seemingly searching the market for a centre-forward following Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner’s struggles at Stamford Bridge. The English club is contemplating whether to part ways with their attacking duo, having shown an interest in signing Satriano.
Chelsea to finalise move for Satriano?
Satriano has four goals to his name for the Ligue side from 12 league matches during his loan spell so far. He is far from a finished product but has shown signs that he could become a future star. It is no wonder why top clubs across Europe are vying for him, and West London could potentially be his next destination.
Prising the Uruguayan away would not be easy as Inter would probably want to keep hold of him, especially with Edin Dzeko being 36 years of age. That being said, their dire financial situation could force their hands to part ways with Satriano, whom they signed for free from Nacional back in January 2020.
That is a great piece of news for us if there are active plans to look past Lukaku and Werner moving forward. The latter has shown some life recently, although it is far too early to say that he is reliable for now. The Belgian, meanwhile, has failed to hit the same heights from his days with the Nerazzurri.
As such, it would not be a surprise to see if one of the Blues striker duo would leave the Bridge this summer. The club has invested well in Lukaku and Werner and it would be reactionary to pull the plug so early. Then again, questions can be raised about Satriano’s experience at the top level.
Werner proved himself at RB Leipzig while Lukaku’s exploits with Inter Milan and Manchester United were there for all to see. If we are indeed on the lookout for a young striker, the club could use Armando Broja, who has impressed on loan at Southampton, to meet our needs in the centre-forward department

Instead of spending money on Satriano, we should look to address our defensive problems by using the amount that we can raise from Lukaku’s or Werner’s potential sale.
After all, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen are set to leave after this campaign, while Cesar Azpilicueta could follow them as well. As such, our priorities should be to bolster our crisis threatened defence, so we may need to turn our attention away from Satriano. Let’s wait and see how this situation will pan out in the coming months.
