Transfer blow as French midfielder prefers move to Spanish giants over Chelsea

Transfer News: Aurelian Tchouameni prefers a summer move to Real Madrid over Chelsea

According to AS (h/t Football London), highly rated Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni prefers a move to Real Madrid over Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

As a rising superstar, Tchouameni has been courted by several top European clubs as a result of his consistent performances in the centre of the pitch. He has certainly made a name for himself during his stint with AS Monaco in recent months.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been brilliant for Monaco this season. Playing mostly as a defensive midfielder, or sometimes in a more advanced role, Tchouameni has impressed with his abilities. He has already won seven caps in a very talented French midfield and it is clear that Didier Deschamps rates him highly.

With his reputation continuing to soar, Tchouameni is among the most sought after midfielders in European football today. It appears unlikely that he will stay at Monaco beyond the 2022 summer transfer window.

The French midfielder prefers a move to Real Madrid over Chelsea despite the Blues’ interest in him. This could prove to be a blow for the Blues in their efforts to bring in a long term replacement for N’Golo Kante.

Can the Blues change his mind?

The 22-year-old is one of the best midfield prospects in world football right now, and bringing him to Stamford Bridge would be a major statement from our side. More so, we will also have a player who can lock in a spot in the starting XI for years to come.

A player like the Ligue 1 ace could potentially become a necessity in our midfield in the months to come. Even if Jorginho stays, he and N’Golo Kante have entered their 30s and would need to be replaced sometime in the future moving forward.

The Frenchman, meanwhile, has struggled to perform at his best throughout this year, which was the same recently in our 3-1 loss to Real Madrid. He is also very injury-prone and the first effects of ageing are beginning to show.

However, Tchouameni seems to prefer a move to Spain over England and it remains to be seen if Chelsea manages to convince him to change his mind. Should they manage to do so, the Blues will be landing themselves a potentially world-class player.

Tchouameni is undoubtedly a huge talent with truckloads of potential who has what it takes to make it big at top clubs. Whilst he might be set on a switch to the Spanish capital, if the Blues manage to convince him, they could have a solid player for the present and the future.
