Transfer News: Real Madrid ready a £58m bid for Chelsea star Reece James
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes (h/t Football.London), Real Madrid are keen on bringing Chelsea full-back Reece James to Santiago Bernabeu before the start of the next season.
Reece James has become a crucial player for Thomas Tuchel due to his versatility and consistency. The Englishman started the season as an aggressive full-back and bagged several goals and assists.
Later in the term, he adapted to the requirement when his defensive presence was needed the most. He has scored six goals and has assisted seven more in 32 matches, which is impressive considering it’s his third Premier League season.
Real Madrid has taken an interest in the Chelsea full-back lately. Now, it is believed that Los Blancos are willing to put forward €70 million (£58m) before the Chelsea board in an attempt to secure the signature of the Englishman.
The Madrid based team’s manager Carlo Ancelotti is disappointed with the damning performances of Dani Carvajal and wants to replace him with Reece James in the next season.
Will Reece James leave Chelsea?
During his injury this term, Chelsea struggled a lot. César Azpilicueta had to shift to the right-back spot at that time, which didn’t have as significant results as earlier. This incident suggests how important the Englishman is to the team.
In an interview earlier this season, Reece James’ father backed his son to become a Chelsea captain one day. He even revealed that the Englishman idolised players like Didier Drogba and John Terry.
Reece James has shown impressive growth after being promoted to the first team in 2019. He could soon earn a massive wage deal if he continues the productive spell.

Considering all the aspects, it seems improbable that the Blues player would leave the club. He has been loyal to us for several years, and now when he has got the perfect stage to grow and display his performance, Real Madrid’s offer might not be able to persuade him.
