Former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham hints at the prospect of a Premier League return

Speaking on talkSPORT as quoted by Football.London, former Chelsea man Tammy Abraham gave us an interesting insight into his future with the possibility of a return to the Premier League on the cards.

The 24-year-old rose through the ranks with the Blues and started making significant inroads into the first team under former manager Frank Lampard. The English striker showed great potential but was ultimately shipped off to AS Roma before the start of the 2021-22 season.

The West Londoners then went on to re-sign Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee of £97.5m. Whilst the Belgian had a decent start to the campaign, he is struggling to justify his price tag at the moment with some questionable performances in recent memory.

Abraham on the other hand has been flourishing under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho. The Englishman has now bagged 23 goals and recorded four assists in 43 matches across all competitions for the Giallorossi this season. He has been a pivotal part of their attack as Roma push for a top-four finish in Serie A.

In conversation with talkSPORT as quoted by Football.London, Tammy Abraham stated that there was a possibility of returning to the Premier League however he did not make any solid claim regarding the matter.

“Of course, I grew up in England and I’m a London boy so maybe one day I will be back in the Premier League to make noise there,”

Tammy back to Stamford Bridge?

At this moment it would be safe to say that Timo Werner and Lukaku have struggled to hit the kind of levels that were expected of them. The Blues spent an enormous amount of money to secure their services but have received very little in terms of their on-field output.

Kai Havertz on the other hand has started to show that he can be a dependable centre-forward should the need arise. That being said, the club could do with another exciting forward who can get on the scoresheet regularly and make significant contributions to the attacking department.

Under such circumstances, Abraham could prove to be a suitable solution should he make his way back to Stamford Bridge. His performances in Serie A certainly haven’t gone unnoticed and top PL clubs like Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, and Arsenal have all been linked to him.

His previous experience with us could help him adjust faster but any possibility of a move at this moment is highly speculative rather than having any concrete base to it. Despite that, it wouldn’t hurt to dream of having someone like the English striker in our ranks.

At 24, he has his prime footballing years ahead and the club could look to bank on that. While this prospect sounds rosy we have in the past spent gigantic sums on attackers with little to no return and should thus take a lot of things into consideration before breaking the bank.

With all the interest from other top sides coupled with his recent comments, it would be interesting to see what the future has in store for the former Blues player. Maybe a move back to Stamford Bridge could be a more realistic proposition considering our recent attacking woes.
